When i was a kid i loved watching sky. I was always excited to go to the beach so i could watch the sunset. At times i climbed over the water tankers on my building terrace just to watch the sunset. Good old days!!! What if i say that " I watch a chinese action series, which is dubbed in hindi." What would you think of me. That i dont have anything better in my life to do.. rite!! But what if i tell you that i watched this when i was a school going kid. "Thats normal, we expect kids to do such things." I wonder how may of you guys use to get this channel and if use to get it, how many actually even bothered to watch this channel and even if watched it how many of you even remember this channel called Home TV?
Well I do and i bothered to remember because first thing I use to do after coming back from the school was to switch on the Tv and watch Home TV. Why? Because there was this Chinese action Series dubbed in Hindi use to be on it... Well to be honest they dint dubb that bad.. I mean the lead actor was never called Raj or Rahul rather they kept the originality and called them by their character names eg. Cop Ching or Faung Wye etc.. It was nice to watch that series and i remember how i use to hate watchin the last few minutes of a serial before that. It was called "Duckula." It was a stupid duck who was supposedly a vampire and was never able to suck the blood out of his victims, cos they always managed to fool him.
But damn, why am i telling you about all this. Blog is nothing about all that. Well but the name of blog is very much related to the action series. Beacuse I remember watching beautiful skys in one of those series named "Other side of the Horizon." Hence the name. By the way dont go by my write up, which is more about my thoughts and the way life at rig goes. Make sure you checkout the pictures because those are the ones that would keep you interested. When I took these I dint thought i ll make a blog out of them but then i couldnt resist. On a weekend when you have nothing to do and wait for the evening to come, so i can watch the FA Community Shield between Man U and Chelsea i thought lets make a blog. Time Pass ke liye!!
I dont know how many of you get a chance to travel places. I get to travel to Rajsthan a Lot!!! Trust me a lot and theres something about the sky out there. I have seen it in so many varied colours. Its like you painting your imaginations. If you ask a artist to make an imaginary sky and if you ask the sky to show its colours, i dont think even the finest artist of this world can match to what a natural sky has to offer. Trust me.. dont Trust me.. doesnt matter. I have seen it and i belive it..you gotta see it to belive it...

Talking about a normal day on a rigsite itself is not normal for me. There are times when i go without sleep for more than 48hrs and thats normal. Normally speaking my day begins with (CLICK PICTURE ABOVE TO SEE MORE PICTURES) taking some pictures either of the sky or the rig or the birds or just anything. It relaxes me every morning to do so. After working hard all night or sometimes hardly, when its morning new set of people come to work and the night guys go back to the camp. But i keep going on and on and on. Its like a prison once I get into the rigsite the only time I step out is when my reliever arrives and I return back to civilization. Not that I complain about this life, its just that i could have been better off with some nice food. But every morning is exciting. It has something new to offer. All night I sit alone in my unit, i describe samples, make reports, update logs, QC data and take short naps. Ahh not to forget the coffee and the chai's. One thing that really excites me is a Sunday. Why? Because we have Bar-be-Que that day. Ahh com'mon you must have seen it in the pictures above. No!! Click on the picture above mate!!
You know there are there a 2 bunch of scientists when it comes to Global warming. Some agree and some disagree. Then comes a third set which is confused. I (CLICK PICTURE ABOVE TO SEE MORE PICTURES) think i am confused too. Reason being, until 2006 people said Rajasthan hardly recives rain. Once in 4 yrs but I believe times have changed. I see no difference in weather in Gurgaon or Rajasthan. Both are hot, both get equal amount of rains (I guess it rains heavier in Rajasthan).. Its really amazing how drastically the weather changes in Rajsthan. Its hot and at one time, then it gets slightly over cast which is followed by sandstorm and heavy winds and then rain rain aint far away. It pours heavy for a while and then there are only few places in this country which could be as pleasnt as Rajasthan. Yes i am in my full consciousness when I am saying this. And i dont drink. These are the times when i have seen skies as pink as pink and as orange as orange. And its beautiful, really beautiful.
Then sir everyday that begins it has to end. If we drilling, then the day is long, real long. Hard work and reports make a nice cocktail with the hot burning sun. A perfect recipe to ensure all your energy is drained out. If its a Sunday evenings are real exciting, you know why. If not, then Mr Camera and me spend some quality time together. A beautiful sunset and pastel colour shades of sky. (CLICK PICTURE ABOVE TO SEE MORE PICTURES) At times when its a cloudy evening they play a part too. It was one of those evenings when the sky got all pinkish Orange and there were 2 rigs on one pad. Weatherford Rig 807 (the drilling rig) and John Energy (the completion rig). Well a completion rig basically completes the well drilled by drilling rig. In lay man term it makes it ready for producing crude oil (for those who dont know). Most of the times when iot rained it rained in the evening. That was the time, the time to see the "Ray of Hopes." Pretty heavenly I must confess.
SOLAR ECLIPSE: 22nd July, 2009.
A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Sun and the (CLICK PICTURE ABOVE TO SEE MORE PICTURES) Earth so that the Sun is fully or partially covered. This can only happen during a new moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from the Earth. There was a major Hype all over regarding this solar eclipse. Supposedly the longest in quite some time. by god it lived upto its hype. Unfortunatley I missed the begining and only reached out when the sun was bright up in the sky and begining to hide behind the clouds. But i still managed to get some glimpse and what a phenomenon it was.
You must be wondering, "Damn this guy keep talking about all these pink and orange and red sky. Does he ever get to see Blue Sky???" Yes my friend I do, I do get to see sky as blue as blue and clouds as white as white. The other day something interesting happened. I am sure manyof you have seen a rainbow. Nothing interesting huh!!! But tell me what would you think when you see rainbow colours (CLICK PICTURE ABOVE TO SEE MORE PICTURES) along the border of a cloud..hmmm. Interesting huh!! This happend after a short shower of rain. One remaining cloud in the sky had rainbow coloured border. A cloud without a silver lining rather a cloud with rainbow colour lining. TRULY UNIQUE. Some see a rabbit in clouds and some see a teddy bear, some see a fish and few Geniuses manage to see a Dinosour. I bet none have seen a sign of ZORRO yeasss the 'Z' in the sky. But I have. It happend the same evening when i saw that cloud with rainbow colour lining.
All my blogs come to end, so that I can begin a new one with new pictures and a new journey. I am not sure about this one though. I wonder if I should end this blog or keep it rolling. As I said earlier, I fall in the third category "the Confused" one. You see sun would never stop setting or rising, nor would the sky stop changing its colours, so why should I. But then I cant keep going on and on for ever. I have to stop some where.
Thanks for Reading
